Saturn Adds Glow to Fond Memories of Car

Share

Paul Dean’s car review (“Detroit Fights Back,” Oct. 29), (which) refers to the Saturn as “the finest small car built by the American automobile industry since the 1933 Chevy roadster,” struck a responsive chord. I was the proud owner of a beautiful 1933 Chevy roadster, tan and brown with orange wheels.

In the summer of 1935, I met a beautiful girl to whom I have been married 53 years. Irene told me later that her girlfriend told her that I had “a good job and a neat car.” I trust I had more than that to offer, but then, every little bit helps.

The Chevy roadster is part of our past, and although we have owned many cars since, the roadster has a special place in our memories. I have often thought I would like to find one and restore it.
