A 15-year-old boy suffered injuries to his chest, cheek and left hand after a pipe bomb he was working on exploded, police said Sunday.
The boy told police he was building the bomb Saturday in the 5400 block of Grape Street with the intent of using it to kill fish at the nearby Chollas Heights Reservoir.
The boy was taken to Villa View Community Hospital where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
