A 52-year-old man was arrested after police at New York City’s Kennedy International Airport discovered that his luggage included four boxes of firecracker-like explosives, a Port Authority spokesman said. Jose A. Nieves of Puerto Rico was charged with first-degree possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment, officials said. Authorities said Nieves bought the M-80s in Chinatown and apparently just intended to take them home to Puerto Rico.
