Ford Unveils New Big Car: Conceding this may not be the best time to introduce a big car, the No. 2 auto maker unveiled a family of full-sized models considered critical to the fortunes of its beleaguered domestic auto business. The car, the Mercury Marquis, is the first all-new replacement in more than a decade for Ford’s boxy but venerable Crown Victoria/Marquis line. The Marquis is scheduled for production early next year and will go on sale next spring as a 1992 model. Prices have not been announced. Fully equipped current models sell for just over $20,000.
