Fishing Radar: Gary Burghoff, the bespectacled Radar on “MASH,” is a hero in the fishing world. He’s invented a floating device that carries bait to attract small salt-water fish, which in turn lure bigger fish so that anglers can catch them. “Everyone who sees it hits themselves on the forehead and says, ‘Oh, my God, it’s so simple,’ ” Burghoff said of his invention, which is called “Chum Magic.” The device is shaped like a boat’s hull and comes in a 35-inch size and a 47-inch model. Burghoff does much of his fishing in Florida, where he has a home. But he hasn’t given up on the entertainment business. He recently directed and plays a dual role in “Small Kill,” a movie due for release in the spring.
