Smallest Cellular Phone Announced: Japanese telecommunications giant Nippon Telegraph & Telephone said it has developed a palm-size portable telephone that is the lightest and smallest in the world. The 8.1 ounce cellular phone, to be made by four Japanese electronics companies, can carry a conversation for 45 minutes, NTT said. New miniaturized low-power circuitry is used to cut its size to 9.2 cubic inches, compared to 13.5 cubic inches for Motorola’s MicroTac telephone, it said.
