A 3-year-old boy who took a loaded gun to nursery school was placed in city custody, police said. The owner of the gun was arrested.

Police charged Lloyd Flowers of Brooklyn with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the life of a child.

Flowers, 27, who is not related to the child, drove the boy to school Wednesday, Sgt. Grace Ridley said. The child told police he took the gun from the front seat of Flowers’ van.

A nursery school teacher at the College Community Care Center in Brooklyn saw the butt of a gun hanging out of the boy’s jacket pocket as she helped him off with his coat. The teacher removed the gun and called police.

The .25-caliber automatic had one round of ammunition in the chamber and three rounds in the clip, police said.
