Algerian President Plans Gulf Meetings

ALGIERS —
Algerian President Chadli Bendjedid will visit Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia this week in a fresh bid to help solve the Persian Gulf crisis peacefully, Algerian officials said Monday.
An authoritative source said that Bendjedid might also visit Iran on the trip, starting today.
Algeria has criticized both Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait and the resulting deployment of foreign military forces in the region.
