Atle Skaardal of Norway started and finished first in a World Cup downhill race at Santa Cristina, Italy, as the Norwegian team emerged as a power.

The Norwegians placed two skiers among the top four for the second consecutive day, and four Norwegians are among the top 10 in the overall Cup standings.

Skaardal, who was third in Friday’s downhill, edged Rob Boyd of Canada and Luc Alphand of France. Lasse Arnesen of Norway was fourth, while teammate Ole Christian Furuseth was sixth and Lasse Kjus finished eighth.
