Up in the Air: KLOS’ morning drive duo Mark and Brian flew off to Saudi Arabia but whether they will be allowed to broadcast from there today is up in the air. Everything had been arranged for the deejays to go last week, according to KLOS promotion director Steve Smith, but late Sunday the pair heard that they would not be allowed in. No reason was given, Smith said, but the chance that listeners will hear them broadcast from Saudi Arabia this morning as planned is “slim to none.” However, the two flew on a Saudi-bound jet with 15 tons of gifts for servicemen while station officials tried to straighten out whatever snafus may have occurred. In the meantime, KLOS engineer John Miller is already in Saudi Arabia, having flown out Friday to set up the satellite broadcast.
