World IN BRIEF : WORLDWIDE : 43 Journalists Killed in 1990, Study Says

A new study by the human rights group Freedom House said that 43 journalists worldwide were killed in 1990 and that 16 others were kidnaped and never heard from again. One of those killed was Farzad Bazoft, a British reporter arrested by the Iraqi government while investigating an explosion at a military complex. Seven journalists died during political turmoil in the Philippines and six in the Colombian drug wars.
