AT&T; Preparing to Sell Part of Unix: cf,pl,8.5 As previously promised, the telecommunications company is negotiating to spin off pieces of its increasingly popular software system group to both domestic and international computer makers. AT&T; could sell of as much as 40% of the group, while retaining majority control. No deals have been signed, but some sales could become final early next year. Among those negotiating for a piece of the group are three Japanese companies, Fujitsu Ltd., NEC Corp and Toshiba Corp.
