CLIPBOARD : Multi-Family Home Futures

Share

The number of permits issued during October for multiple-family housing was about the same as in September, leaving half of the home-building futures quotient running ahead of 1989.

While the year-to-date number of permits for single-family homes has sunk to around half last year’s total, the 10-month total for multi-family housing is 8% ahead (October figures are the most recent ones available). The 1990 level continues far in arrears of 1986-88, however.

The cities of Tustin, Irvine and Orange as well as the county’s unincorporated areas are the centers of this future activity, while building in Anaheim, Mission Viejo and Fullerton has cooled considerably since last year. Five cities have issued no such permits during the first 10 months of either of the past two years.
