World IN BRIEF : ALBANIA : Another 500 Cross Border Into Greece

About 500 Albanians braving heavy snow and defying armed guards fled to Greece, bringing to almost 2,000 the number who made the perilous crossing in December. The northern Greek towns of Ioannina and Filiates reported receiving the bulk of the new defectors. Many refugees said that thousands of Albanians, unimpressed by reforms announced by Communist President Ramiz Alia, were gathered in southern villages preparing to flee after rumors that Greece would close its border on the last day of 1990.
