Rushdie’s Statement

Share

Religious fundamentalists of all faiths can rest easier. The major heretic-godless-unbeliever Salman Rushdie has seen the errors of his ways and embraced the true faith of his fathers. He did this about-face in neutral and free London, in the presence of the leadership of the Islamic Society for the Promotion of Religious Tolerance. Was that really “religious tolerance” in that phrase? Incredible!

Our own fundamentalists could learn a thing or two from their Eastern brothers. Are you listening, Rev. Lou Sheldon and Rev. Pat Robertson? Books that disagree with “religious standards” can be banned. Skeptics can be silenced. Unbelievers can be converted. The old ways of persuasion still work, even in a modern secular Western free city like London.
