Cuba has raised by 75% the price foreigners must pay for gasoline in hard currency.

The increase to 90 U.S. cents from the previous 51 cents for a liter, or $3.42 from $1.94 per gallon, of special-grade gasoline became effective Jan. 1 at the so-called “diplo-garages” that sell gasoline and gasoline coupons to tourists, diplomats and foreigners working in Cuba.

Despite the price increase, gasoline on sale to foreigners for hard currency is not rationed as it is for Cuban motorists, who continue to pay the same price for their gasoline as in 1990, 32 Cuban cents (44 U.S. cents) a liter, or $1.16 per gallon.
