Lenin Still Rates High With Soviets
A majority of Soviet people still admire V. I. Lenin, founder of the Soviet state, an opinion poll published Thursday suggests.
The Communist Party newspaper Pravda said 59% of 2,000 people polled “positively assess the personality” of Lenin, while 10.3% had negative feelings and 30.6% percent had no opinion.
Pravda said 76% of those surveyed gave Lenin a high rating for his accomplishments, while only 9.5% were negative.
It also said that 56% of respondents preferred socialism, 7% endorsed capitalism and 7.7% were in favor of state communism. It did not say what the remaining respondents said.
