George Allen Left His Mark on Football

Share

I was never much of a football fan until George Allen took over as the Rams’ head coach in 1966. But he soon proved to me that if you truly believe in winning, then you can win. Coach Allen believed that he could turn a Ram team of perennial losers into winners. He believed that he could take over a group of aging Washington Redskins and turn them into a Super Bowl team. And in his most impressive coaching job, he believed he could take charge of an almost extinct college football program and turn them into winners.

There have been other great, winning coaches, but no one ever really accomplished the things George Allen did. On every level, football is a better game because of him.
