Once again, Adam Kaye of Dull Mar must find conditions so boring in his hometown that he needs to denigrate his neighbors about the San Diego community recently named “Carmel Valley.”

In his last published tirade (Letters, Dec. 16), this busybody said, “North City West is the perfect name for NCW: it’s as bland, generic and impersonal as everything they have built there.”

If this Don Quixote is looking for windmills to fight, he needs to look no further than his own back yard. His parting shot was, “Developments are named for what they destroy.” That describes his city perfectly.

Right under his probing nose, he should be able to see how the insidious oceanfront encroachment by local property owners has infringed on the public’s right to enjoyment of the beach. For only a few million, one buys a piece of property on the water then proceeds to lay claim to the entire Pacific Ocean as their very own.
