Many of us were around during World War II and well remember our victory gardens, where, on rather small lots, we were able to provide most of our needed fruits and vegetables.

In threatening to cut back our supply of food, the agriculture industry would be wise to remember this, for we can do it again, only more efficiently this time with water-saving drip systems.

Too often I have driven through California’s agricultural areas during the heat of summer, only to see water spewing out in the middle of hot summer days, evaporating into the atmosphere, carelessly ignoring an efficient saving of water.

There may be many condos, but there are also many small (and large) plots of privately owned land. Farmers might find we can provide very well for ourselves.
