Soviet Space Station Tumbling Out of Orbit

A Soviet space scientist said Friday that the Salyut-7 space station will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere sometime in early February, but that it is likely to disintegrate and poses no threat to anyone on the ground.

The director of the Energia Science and Production Amalgamation said at a news briefing that Salyut-7 had fallen from its remote stationary orbit because of unusually heavy solar activity.
