Pete Wilson and the Future of California

After reading the “do list” for Wilson, the reader discerns remarkably similar themes already prominent in state government: Spend, tax and then spend more. Haven’t these educators, business people and community leaders learned the lessons of a largess of government intervention (budget deficits, high interest rates, economic downturns and loss of employment)?

The reader wonders whatever happened to the ideals of individual initiative, performance and reward.

As governor, Pete Wilson has a unique opportunity to change the direction of our lives in this most populous state. Hopefully, he will not disregard many of the visions of individual liberty.
