MGM-Pathe Sues Gay Group: MGM-Pathe Communications Co. pounced on a New York homosexual protection patrol that uses the movie conglomerate’s Pink Panther trademark. The suit in Manhattan federal court asks that the Pink Panther Patrol be prohibited from using the famous feline name and trademarked paw design. It also seeks damages in excess of $100,000. The Pink Panther Patrol was organized in June, 1990, to protect homosexuals from “gay bashing” physical assaults. Licensing of the Pink Panther trademark “has been restricted to merchandise with a universal and non-controversial appeal,” the suit said.
