Pomona : New Fire Chief Confirmed
G. John Parker will become chief of the Fire Department on Feb. 4, after the City Council’s confirmation of his appointment this week.
Parker, 49, who currently heads the fire department in Peoria, Ill., was chosen by City Administrator Julio Fuentes after a nationwide recruiting effort. His annual salary will be $87,168.
The Pomona Fire Department has been without a permanent chief since Tom Fee resigned in July after 76 of the department’s 119 firefighters petitioned for his removal.
Parker will be Pomona’s first black fire chief.
