Latinos and Science

Share

Any time I see an article making sweeping generalities about Latinos, I see red. If the article is written by a Latino, readers start to believe it. Latinos do not go into science? I don’t know about today’s Latino youth, though I suspect they suffer from the same malaise that afflicts others--no commitment, drive or ambition. In my family (and we were poor), I had an uncle who was an electrical engineer. My cousins in Texas all got scholarships to Johns Hopkins, Caltech and Harvard. Yes, Harvard, another myth to be dispelled that Latinos never reach Harvard.

So, please, before you print another of these articles, think of the harm done by such propaganda.
