Harley-Davidson Recalls Motorcycles: Harley-Davidson Inc., the nation’s lone motorcycle manufacturer, announced it is recalling 43,000 motorcycles because of a brake defect. The company announced that it is recalling all of its FXR and XLH models sold between 1987 and 1990 because of a defect with the front brake calipers. Harley spokesman Dan Klemencic estimated the recall would cost $150,000 and said the company was unaware of any injuries related to the defect. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the upper mounting bolt on the calipers might fracture while the motorcycle is in use, causing a bushing to move out of position and into the front spokes.
