Records Dispute Alibi, Prosecutor Contends

A prosecutor and a defense attorney disagreed Friday on whether newly obtained records support the alibi of a man accused of murdering a Hollywood waitress 27 years ago.
At a Minneapolis bail hearing, an attorney for Vernon Robinson contended that Navy records showed he could not have murdered waitress Thora Rose in October, 1963, because he was in boot camp. But Assistant Hennefent County Atty. Karen Roesler argued the records do not show Robinson was in active military duty at the time of the murder.
Robinson was arrested in December after authorities said a sophisticated police computer matched his fingerprints to those found at the crime scene. California authorities are seeking to return Robinson to California.
