Dense-Pac Loss in 3rd Quarter Blamed on Defense Slowdown

Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc., the Garden Grove manufacturer of computer memory products, reported a net loss for the third fiscal quarter of $77,009, contrasted with net income of $11,659 for the like quarter last year. Sales for the quarter ended Nov. 30 declined 22%, to $1.4 million from $1.8 million.

For the nine-month period, the company incurred a net loss of $48,316, contrasted with a year-earlier net loss of $274,748. Sales were down 4%, to $5.5 million from $5.7 million.

James G. Turner, chairman and chief executive, said the drop in sales for the third quarter resulted from the defense industry slowdown and the government’s budget problems.
