Restaurant Offering Nude Show Raided

Share

Police raided a new restaurant offering nude women dancers Wednesday night on the grounds that the restaurant did not have a live-entertainment permit.

Officers arrested two employees--a dancer and a manager, both unidentified--and said the two would probably be cited and released.

The restaurant, Shangri-La at 7132 Garden Grove Blvd., opened about a month ago. Because no liquor is served, the restaurant is not subject to state Alcoholic Beverage Control Department regulation forbidding nude entertainment.

“We’d prefer to make it known we don’t want this in the city,” said Westminster Police Lt. Robert Burnett, who led the raid. “If they want to be here, they’ll have to fight to be here. . . . It may be OK in San Francisco, but not in Westminster.”

Seven uniformed officers plus building and fire inspectors conducted the raid.
