Merck & Co.: The health-products manufacturer said its fourth-quarter earnings rose 20.2% to $442.2 million from a year ago. Sales increased 19% to $2.1 billion. Net income for all of 1990 was $1.8 billion, up 19.1%. The Rahway, N.J.-based company attributed its performance to strong sales, cost controls, productivity improvements and a lower tax rate.
