OXNARD : Consultant Hired for Farmers Market

Share

The Oxnard City Council on Tuesday approved spending $30,000 to hire consultant Rosemary Leigh to help organize an outdoor farmers market.

Leigh was chosen because of her experience organizing the Escondido Farmers Market, said Steven Kinney, director of Oxnard’s Redevelopment Agency.

City officials hope to begin the year-round farmers market in late May, drawing people into the downtown area and complementing the area’s farming economy. Five sites are being considered by city staff members, including locations near Heritage Square.
