Duarte : Drunk Drivers to Pay Costs
Convicted drunk drivers must now pay for all costs incurred in their arrest in the city, under a resolution passed unanimously by the City Council on Tuesday.
The city contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for police services. The resolution given final approval on Tuesday is designed to retrieve the city’s costs associated with drunk-driving arrests. The new law is expected to generate $10,000 annually, according to a staff report.
Cities with similar laws include West Hollywood, Bellflower and Norwalk.
