South Gate : Park and Recreation Dept. Gets New Administrator

Dodie Mosby has been hired as administrator of the South Gate Parks and Recreation Department. She replaces George Price, who left the city in July to become director of parks and recreation in Moreno Valley in Riverside County.

Mosby is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upgrading of the city’s eight parks. She also is in charge of the department’s 45 full-time employees, program activities and special events, said William Cornett, interim city manager.

Mosby had worked for the city of Santa Monica since 1974. She started as a recreation leader and worked her way up to business administrator for cultural and recreational services before accepting the position in South Gate. Mosby will receive an annual salary of $65,376.

She earned her bachelor of arts degree in recreation administration from Cal State San Jose and a master’s degree in public administration from Cal State Dominguez Hills.
