The FBI said it has identified elements of international terrorist organizations in this country, but FBI Director William S. Sessions said Americans should “go about our business” as usual. Sessions stressed that the threat of international attacks in this country was low despite the Persian Gulf War.

President Bush summoned Republican congressional leaders to the White House for a war briefing. The President has said the weeklong air assault is grinding down Iraq’s ability to fight. Bush described the gulf crisis as “the No. 1 issue of the day” at the start of today’s briefing.

Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Zalman Shoval, praised the American Patriot missiles defending Israel from Iraqi attack. In an appearance at the National Press Club, Shoval also said he expected Israeli crews would soon take over operation of the system from the U.S. crews sent to help.

Four CBS journalists covering the Persian Gulf War were reported missing. The network said the four, including veteran correspondent Bob Simon, had not been heard from since Monday morning.
