NATION IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Snow Coats Midwest; Severe Cold in Maine
Snow fell over much of the Midwest and parts of the Northeast, while Maine residents shivered under wind chill advisories cautioning about cold dipping to 50 degrees below zero. Snow fell in parts of Missouri, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, North Dakota and Montana. Snow also was reported in New York state. About one-half foot of snow piled up in northwest Missouri and Kansas City got about 4 inches, the weather service said. In Maine, a wind chill advisory warned winds up to 25 m.p.h. could make subzero temperatures feel more like 40 to 50 degrees below.
