From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A judge ordered a psychological evaluation for a Louisiana policeman’s son who has become a prime suspect in the slayings of five Gainesville, Fla., college students last summer. Marion County Circuit Court Judge Carven Angel appointed two Ocala, Fla., psychologists to evaluate Danny Harold Rolling of Shreveport, La., to determine if he is mentally competent. State Atty. Brad King said the evaluation approved by the judge was prompted by Rolling’s guilty plea to a charge of armed robbery, which he made without obtaining an attorney to represent him. Defense attorneys say Rolling is mentally incompetent and not capable of answering questions posed by police.
