THE GULF WAR : In South Africa

Share

Thousands of pro-Iraqi MUSLIMS, some chanting “Saddam, our hero!” and “A bullet for Bush!” marched on U.S. diplomatic missions in Durban, Johannesburg and other cities to protest U.S. involvement in the Gulf War. Police said they stopped hundreds of protesters from entering the building housing the U.S. Consulate in Johannesburg. There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests. Anti-American protests by thousands among South Africa’s 400,000 Muslims have surged since U.S.-led forces attacked Iraq and occupied Kuwait last week.
