California IN BRIEF : BAKERSFIELD : Judge, Under Investigation, Quits

A Bakersfield Municipal Court judge resigned after the Kern County Grand Jury called for his removal on criminal charges. Carey Scott resigned after serving nine years on the bench, giving no reason. Grand jury officials called for Scott’s dismissal for allegedly approving thousands of dollars in court payments for private investigator Alvin McClellan. The grand jury indicted McClellan on two felony counts.
