Milken Granted Delay on Appeal Brief: A federal appeals court has given Michael Milken’s attorneys until March 4 to file their brief in the appeal of the former junk bond financier’s 10-year sentence for securities-law violations. The date coincides with the day Milken has been ordered to begin serving his prison term. Milken’s attorneys, however, said they were not seeking to put off the surrender date. The appeal brief had originally been due last Friday, but the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to give attorneys more time. In court papers, Milken’s attorneys said they needed the extension because they would be “unable to brief adequately the complex issues raised in this criminal appeal.”
