California IN BRIEF : TEMECULA : ‘Yuppie Robber’ Now Hits Restaurant

Share

A dapper dresser dubbed the “Yuppie Robber,” who police believe has held up three yogurt shops, apparently has expanded his culinary targets. A man wearing the Yuppie Robber’s trademark trench coat and fedora robbed a sandwich shop, said Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick McManus. Investigators believe the same man robbed yogurt shops in nearby Murrieta and Lake Elsinore. “He went from desserts to the main meal,” McManus said. A restaurant employee said a worker at the cash register did not understand the man when he mumbled that he had a gun and wanted all the cash. The robber repeated his order three times before another employee overheard and surrendered the cash. Authorities did not reveal how much was taken from the store.
