Steven M. Cortright, 48, a well-known Southern California artist and longtime professor of art at UC Santa Barbara. He exhibited his unusual photo-process and New Realist work at galleries in Los Angeles, New York, Europe and Japan while teaching printmaking at UCSB, where he was involved in both the graduate and undergraduate schools. He twice was awarded fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts. In Santa Barbara on Friday of cancer.
