American Financial Raises Stake in Zenith to 5.1%

American Financial Corp., a Cincinnati investment concern controlled by financier Carl H. Lindner, raised its stake in Zenith National Insurance Corp. to 5.1% of the Woodland Hills-based insurer’s stock.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, American Financial said it bought 148,900 additional shares between Dec. 13 and Jan. 31, raising its total holdings to 990,400 shares. The company paid between $12.55 and $12.80 a share for the additional stock, the filing stated.
Investors are required to disclose their investment in companies to the SEC once that stake reaches 5% or more.
