Although soldiers fight wars, journalists and their audiences usually name them, according to military historians. Following is a list of wars and their original names: War of 1812--The Second War of Independence
Civil War--The War of the Rebellion, the War of Southern Independence or the War Between the States
World War I--The Great War
Korean War--Korean Conflict
Persian Gulf War--The Gulf War, the Gulf Conflict, Operation Desert Storm, the War With Iraq; to the Iraqis, it’s The Mother of All Battles.
