NLRB Cites Unfair Practices by N.Y. Daily News: In a major blow to Daily News management, the National Labor Relations Board charged the strikebound tabloid’s corporate owner with unfair labor practices in the 103-day-old strike. The NLRB’s New York office reported finding that the Tribune Co. of Chicago, which owns the Daily News, resorted to unfair labor practices by locking out delivery truck drivers last Oct. 25 when they demonstrated outside a Brooklyn printing plant to protest the firing of a fellow worker. The NLRB’s finding was the beginning of an unfair labor practices case against the Tribune Co., usually a lengthy process.
