Paying for War and Peace in Persian Gulf

Share

An article on the front page (Jan. 30) states that 700 cases of firms and individuals have been detected attempting to sell munitions and other goods to Iraq, including at least 20 cases since August in the U.S. Government officials say this may represent only a fraction of the violations.

Violating the sanctions is a felony offense and since we are at war with Iraq, I would label the American offenders as traitors. Our men in the Gulf deserve better than this.

I propose that the names of the American companies involved and any and all American individuals be made public. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as the traitors they are. The majority of offenders (who are not Americans) could be taken care of by the World Court or a special war crimes court.
