Pyewacket Leads All the Way in Puerto Vallarta Yacht Race

Pyewacket, owned by Roy E. Disney of the California Yacht Club, finished first to the line and first in the fleet in the Marina del Rey-to-Puerto Vallarta race Friday.

First place overall in the race could not be decided until Jano, owned by Robert Kahn of the California Yacht Club, finished. Jano was expected to finish late Friday night.

Taxi Dancer, owned by Mitch Rouse of the Long Beach Yacht Club, finished second to the line, but third in class. Silver Bullet, owned by John DeLaura of the Waikiki Yacht Club, was third across the line, but edged Taxi Dancer to finish second in the fleet.

Pyewacket, racing for the first time, led from the start of the race. It finished the 1,125-nautical-mile race in 25 minutes less than six days.
