Utah Restricts Abortions

I take strong exception to your editorial “How About Rights for the Born?” (Jan. 30). Apparently you side with the rights of the born, that is pregnant women who should be allowed to kill their unborn babies at will through abortion.

I wonder if such a choice can be called a “right.” Pregnant women have no right to kill their unborn babies. The fetus is a “real being” distinct from its mother although dependent on her for its life. Consequently, can we say that a pregnant woman has the right to kill another human being who ought to be protected in the sanctuary of her womb?

Women, be not fooled! Abortion is the killing of an innocent, defenseless human being and not a matter of choice.

Kudos to Utah Gov. Norman H. Bangerter for signing a bill curbing the wanton practice of abortion.
