Puttin’ On the Ritz: Fred Astaire’s widow and Ginger Rogers filed a $1-million commercial appropriation lawsuit against Nabisco Inc. in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday for imprinting Ritz cracker cans with unauthorized images of Astaire and Rogers dancing. According to Roger’s attorney, Steven A. Browne, the “invasion of the right of publicity” claim follows four months of unsuccessful negotiations with Nabisco, during which the food conglomerate allegedly refused to apologize or pay compensation.
