Prince Charles wrote part of the script for an animated version of one of his own stories, Scottish Television announced Thursday.

The cartoon, to be produced in Gaelic and Welsh, will take its title from the story “The Old Man of Lochnager,” which Charles wrote for his younger brothers, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

The 30-minute cartoon will be produced by Scottish and Welsh television, which plan to air Gaelic and Welsh versions during Christmas of 1992. An English version is planned later.

“We are grateful for Prince Charles’ support in our efforts to make Gaelic and Gaelic television available to as wide an audience as possible,” said Alistair Moffat, program director for Scottish Television.

The prince’s co-author will be Bob Wilson, known in Britain for his Stanley Bagshaw books and cartoons.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the prince’s Charities Trust.
