USAir Trims Insurance Coverage: The carrier said it reduced its insurance coverage effective Feb. 1--the day one of its Boeing 737s collided with a Skywest Airlines turboprop at Los Angeles International Airport, killing 34 people. USAir said it lowered its coverage because premiums have more than doubled. The airline said it would not suffer a loss due to the change in insurance coverage. It said insurance on its fleet was reduced to $9 billion from $12 billion and its liability coverage was dropped to $850 million per accident from $1 billion.
